Join the Church Family at St Paul this week for Two Gatherings!
At St. Paul Lutheran Church, we give thanks not only for the Divine Service and the Church’s public proclamation of the Gospel, but also for the many ways Christians may gather during the week around God’s Word, prayer, and faithful conversation. Such opportunities strengthen the bonds of Christian fellowship and encourage us in our vocations as men and women redeemed by Christ. This week, we are pleased to announce two monthly gatherings taking place on Thursday, April 16: Hebrews, our men’s gathering, and The Vine, our women’s gathering. Both offer a welcoming setting for conversation, encouragement, and time spent together as members of Christ’s Church.
Hebrews: A Men’s Gathering
Our men’s gathering, Hebrews, will meet on Thursday, April 16, at Marvin’s, located at Wolcott and Goodrich. Marvin’s has long been a familiar spot in the community, and it provides a relaxed setting for men to gather, enjoy fellowship, and continue building one another up in the Christian life. These gatherings are a good opportunity for conversation that is both thoughtful and practical, marked by the kind of mutual encouragement that men need in their callings as husbands, fathers, sons, grandfathers, friends, and neighbors. Christian fellowship is never merely social, but neither is it less than personal. It is a sharing of life under the mercy of God, strengthened by the truth of His Word and the comfort of belonging to Christ and to one another.

The Vine: A Women’s Gathering
At the same time, our women’s gathering, The Vine, will also meet on Thursday, April 16, this month in the home of Cindy Chamberland. The Vine offers women of the congregation a gracious and hospitable setting in which to gather, converse, and encourage one another in the faith. The name itself calls to mind our Lord’s words in John 15, where He teaches that He is the Vine and we are the branches. All true Christian life, growth, and fruitfulness flow from Him. In a world that is often hurried, distracted, and isolating, gatherings such as these serve as a gentle reminder that the Christian life is not lived alone. We are joined to Christ, and therefore also to one another.
These monthly events are important not because they replace the Church’s central life around Word and Sacrament, but because they flow from it. Christians who hear the Gospel together on the Lord’s Day also benefit from gathering during the week for companionship, conversation, and shared encouragement. This is one way the Lord cares for His people within the fellowship of the Church.
