St. Paul Welcomes the Ride for Roswell
On Saturday, June 27, St. Paul Lutheran Church is grateful to host a stop for the Ride for Roswell, a major cycling event that brings thousands of riders together for one shared goal, to help end cancer. The Ride for Roswell describes itself as one of the nation’s largest cycling fundraising events, a weekend that shows what can happen when a determined community comes together. Ride for Roswell If you live in Clarence Center, Clarence, East Amherst, Williamsville, or the Buffalo, NY area, we invite you to come out, cheer on riders, and take part in a day that is bigger than any one route or finish line.
Amazing Cause That Touches Our Whole Community
Most of us have been close to cancer in some way, a family member, a friend, a coworker, or a neighbor. That is why this event resonates so deeply. Ride for Roswell is not just about cycling. It is about supporting the people who are fighting today, honoring those we have lost, and strengthening the work that can change outcomes for future families. The Ride’s own description highlights this shared purpose, riders gather to celebrate survivors, pay tribute to those we’ve lost, and unite around the passion to find cures for cancer. The impact is not abstract. Roswell Park notes that funds raised benefit cancer research and patient care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Roswell Park listing That means real help for real people, not only in the lab, but also in the daily work of caring for patients and walking with families through a season of fear, treatment, waiting, and hope. Events like this are one of the ways a community can say, clearly and publicly, you are not alone.
Why a Rest Stop Matters
Along a long route, a rest stop can feel like a small thing, a pause, a refill, a quick word of encouragement. But anyone who has done a ride, or any long challenge, knows what that “small thing” can mean. It is a moment to breathe. A reminder to keep going. A place where strangers become neighbors because they’re pulling in the same direction. That is part of the beauty of Ride for Roswell. The event is built not only on individual endurance, but on community support, teams, volunteers, donors, and local hosts who show up mile after mile. St. Paul is honored to be one of those places of welcome in Clarence Center. We want riders to leave our stop strengthened, encouraged, and reminded that their effort matters. We also want our local community, including neighbors from East Amherst and Williamsville, to see a clear picture of compassion in action, people giving time, energy, and resources to support cancer patients and the work of finding cures.
Live Music at Our Stop: Finnegans Punch
We’re also excited to add a joyful note to the day. Our stop will include live music by Finnegans Punch, featuring our own Libby Zech. Finnegans Punch is an Irish pub band from Buffalo, NY known for favorite jigs, reels, ballads, and more. Finnegans Punch Music has a way of lifting tired legs and brightening a long day, and it also helps turn a rest stop into a place that feels like community.
How You Can Participate, Even If You’re Not Riding
You don’t need a bike to be part of this. Here are a few simple ways to join the day:
- Come out to encourage riders as they arrive and depart, a smile and a clap go farther than you think.
- Share the event with friends and neighbors in Clarence, East Amherst, and the Buffalo area who care about supporting cancer research and patient care.
- Consider supporting the Ride for Roswell through donation or participation, using the official event resources.
A Word of Gratitude and a Warm Invitation
St. Paul Lutheran Church is grateful for every rider, volunteer, donor, and supporter who makes this event possible. We also thank those who are currently carrying the heavy burden of cancer in their home. In times like these, practical help and steady companionship matter. Hosting a stop is one small way we can contribute to a larger mission that serves our neighbors across Western New York. If you are in Clarence Center, East Amherst, Williamsville, or nearby Buffalo, NY communities, please consider stopping by on Saturday, June 27. Come for a few minutes or stay awhile. Encourage riders. Enjoy the music. Share in a cause that is truly worth supporting. We look forward to welcoming the Ride for Roswell to St. Paul and to standing with our community in the hope of a future without cancer.
